The 'Arabian Wave' section of the 8th ARAB Film Festival aims to show the dynamic of the current Arab cinema through the six new films. < Amra and the Second Marriage > is black comedy with on bitter satire on polygamy and son preference. < Sofia >, tells a woman struggling with the eyes of her society that regards premarital sexual relationships as sinful. Moreover, < Sofia > is enough to surprise you with the reversal at the end of the movie. < What Comes Around >, which deals with issues of solidarity through the mutual assistance system in low-income families and female genital mutilation, shares critical views on the status of women's human rights and patriarchal social order. Meanwhile, < Yara > romantically illustrates shyness of first love in the beautiful landscape directed by Abbas Fahdel, who gained worldwide fame for his masterpiece documentary < Iraq Year Zero >, which screened in Korea. In addition, < Yomeddine > is a road movie about mutual support between social underdogs such as a leper and his orphaned apprentice and will touch audiences deeply by contrasting the beauty of friendship and solidarity between them with a harsh gaze of society. The last film of 'Arabian Wave', < Northern Wind > humorously shows the interlink between European and Arab workers who seem to live in a different world on a parallel line that completely has no connection with each other. As such, this year's 'Arabian Wave' section has a variety of programs with different characteristics.
